Situated on the south shore of Oahu, the landmark promontory Diamond Head is a broad ring of an ancient volcanic crater that separates the bustling tourism of Waikiki from the residential communities of East Honolulu. As one of Honolulu’s leading residential neighborhoods, the Diamond Head region is in close proximity to businesses in the thriving downtown district, to the Kapiolani Park, and to the beaches of Kahala and Waikiki.
A true tropical paradise, the weather in the Diamond Head region is simply remarkable. Graced by warm sunshine and azure Pacific waters, residents and visitors of this community can be found enjoying a wide range of open-air activities. Joggers, bikers and hikers are frequently seen in and around the Diamond Head Crater while water lovers delight in some of the best surfing around. No matter what your interests are, Diamond Head invites you to relax and enjoy its naturally stunning location.
Located directly east of Diamond Head is the affluent community of Kahala. Featuring many beachfront properties, Kahala is close to Kapiolani Park, a favorite playground of recreational athletes and to Kapiolani Community College. Entertainment can be found at the nearby Diamond Head Theater, Waialae Country Club, Kahala Mall and Movie Theaters, several beach parks and the legendary five-star Kahala Hotel and Resort.
In the valleys and surrounding neighborhoods is the town of Kaimuki, located east of Manoa and inland from Diamond Head. The center of Kaimuki offers a commercial strip on Waialae Avenue with services, retail shops and restaurants. Private education in Kaimuki is found at the all-girls Sacred Hearts Academy, the all-boys St. Louis School, and Chaminade University.
The mountainous ridge homes of the Diamond Head region including St. Louis Heights, Palolo, Waialae Iki and the gated community Hawaii Loa Ridge, offer sweeping views of the ocean and the city of Honolulu. Further east toward Hawaii Kai are the communities of Wailupe, Aina Haina, Niu Valley, Kuliouou and Paiko Lagoon. Single family homes in this region range in price from approximately $600,000 to $10 million.
